Duck Farming
DUCK FARMING
Introduction
Duck farming is a part poultry farming system. However, there is the difference between duck farming and poultry especially in the habits and habitats of duck farming and in shelter and population. Ducks can be raised for meat and eggs. In most parts of the world, duck ranks next to chicken in terms of meat and eggs production.
Commercial duck farming is increasing as this business has a good potential to earn in egg production. Ducks are strong and resilient birds to chickens and can adopt adverse climatic conditions.
You can start a commercial duck farming business as ducks can feed on agro-industrial wastes, dwell in swampy and mashy areas. These birds can survive in regions where no agricultural crop can be grown and other livestocks raised.
Ducks can survive without water, however, they need a pond for fertile egg laying, mating, breeding and raising the ducklings. So a pond must be built.
Duck farming business is very lucrative and profitable as there are many duck breeds available around the world.
And to top it all, ducks are disease resistant birds(you can find very few diseases in ducks) and they can feed basically on anything edible ranging from fungi to bugs, worms, snails, vegetables, rice, to kitchen wastes.
Corn, legumes and other grains will increase egg size and production rate.
They can feed on land and water as well.
Ducks have less mortality rate and can lay eggs for a long time, they keep bugs away.
Invest in Agriculture, Invest in the future.
